AGILE PhD School 2024 in Castellon, Spain
Last week, I attended a 3-day PhD school organised as part of the AGILE initiative. The five letters stand for the Association of Geographic Information Laboratories in Europe, and the school is running its 7th edition, this year’s theme being GeoAI for Social Good.
We were incredibly lucky with the warm and sunny weather in Castellón de la Plana 🇪🇸, a home to Universitat Jaume I, just an hour north of Valencia. The fourteen or so of us enjoyed keynotes from Anita Graser, who spoke about the need for explainable GeoAI, Prof. João Porto de Albuquerque, who introduced the concept of participatory urban analytics, and Rafael Verduzco Torres, who spoke about the openness and reproducibility in science.
Many thanks to Carlos, Fernando, Diego, Alina, and Hoda for organising such an exciting gathering.
