2024 GeoInformatics Summer School at Wuhan University
Last week I had a pleasure to attend the 2024 International GeoInformatics Summer School organised by LIESMARS (aka the State Key Lab of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing) at Wuhan University. I enjoyed a series of lectures on big data and social sensing for disaster management, and discussions on the future of LLMs for geospatial with Prof Zhenlong Li of Penn State.
⭐ My group’s project, in which we explored the relationship between Place Connectivity Index and the spread of Covid-19 in US counties in the first year of the pandemic, won the best presentation award. Here’s the code & the slides (keep in mind we had less than two days to work on it!).
It was my first time in China 🇨🇳, and having visited both Beijing and Wuhan, I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the country.
